This design was born on the eve before the full moon of May 2023 - the flower moon.

This full moon landed on the 5th day of the 5th month and this pattern is based around the number 5 to celebrate this relationship.

This pattern flowed from me, needing to be brought forth. Coinciding with the inaugural Mandala Day, 7th May 2023, this is my contribution to the celebration of crochet mandalas which have been a huge part of my own crochet journey.

Can you spot the sneaky turtle/tortoise in the centre of the design?

I used four different yarns by Vegan Yarn UK for this pattern. The lilac mandala was made in thin seaweed yarn which is an unusual fibre but is a joy to work with. The blue mandala was made in 4 ply organic cotton which has a slubby texture and creates a really interesting effect. The lunar mandala was made using DK Pima Cotton. This yarn has a lovely sheen and stitch definition. The greeny/blue mandala was made using 4 colours of DK Tencel Yarn and is very shiny. All yarns and more can be found on www.veganyarn.co.uk.

This is a free offering, and can be downloaded here in UK terms or US terms, or on Ravelry, here.
