Now ch5, dc into the fourth st along after the last sl st into the tree rings slice. Ch5, dc into the fourth st after the dc just made. Ch25. Turn. 1dc into second ch from the hook. 1dc into the next 2 ch. Picot. The picot is made by chaining 3, then sl st to the first ch. (Dc into the next 3 ch, picot) repeat along, including the ch5 and dc into the tree ring slice. Sl st to the last tr of row 56. This creates a leaf bud spiral. You may need to adjust and twist into a spiral to get a neater effect. The leaf bud spiral does not count towards the st count.
